Advice prior to appointment

You will be examined so please wear appropriate attire.

If you have any recent blood tests it would be useful to bring them with you . You can ask your GP for a print out of your tests.

We may ask for a list of your prescription medication as part of the assessment. It would be very useful to bring this with you. Also any vitamins etc that you take as supplements would also be useful. You do not need to bring them with you only a list of them.

At AB Health Hub we want you to take control of your own health. Book an appointment to have a full Health check MOT . A health check-up is an important step in maintaining and monitoring your overall well-being. Here's a general outline of what you  will expect during a routine health check-up:

  1. Medical History Review:  We will ask you about any existing medical conditions, medications you're currently taking, allergies, and any family history of illnesses. This information helps us understand your health background.

  2. Vital Signs: This includes measurements like blood pressure, heart rate, respiratory rate, and body temperature. These numbers give a basic snapshot of your current health status.

  3. Physical Examination: Your healthcare provider will perform a thorough physical examination. This includes looking at your general appearance, checking your eyes, ears, nose, throat, feeling for any lumps or abnormalities, and examining your heart, lungs, abdomen, and neurological functions.

  4. ECG: this is a trace of your heart and can detect any abnormalities.

  5. Blood Tests: These tests can reveal a lot about your health, including, blood sugar levels, iron levels and Thyroid function tests. These results are available in 15mins using our point of care blood testing facilities.  Bloods are taken by finger prick. Other tests for  liver and kidney function, and the presence of any infections or other abnormalities can be taken by venous blood samples on the same visit.  (There is an extra charge for this)

  6. Urinalysis: A sample of your urine can provide information about kidney function, diabetes, and urinary tract infections.

  7. Body Mass Index (BMI): This is a calculation based on your height and weight, which gives an indication of whether you're in a healthy weight range for your height..

  8. Discussion and Advice: This is an opportunity to discuss any health concerns, lifestyle habits, and receive advice on diet, exercise, and other aspects of healthy living.

  9. Screening for Mental Health:  We may depending your situation, ask you questions about your mental health.

  10. Follow-Up Recommendations: Depending on the results of the check-up, we may recommend further tests, specialist consultations, or lifestyle changes.
